109 Chair by House of Finn Juhl

Designed by Finn Juhl. The 109 was originally manufactured in 1946 by Niels Vodder, a talented cabinetmaker who worked with Finn Juhl for many years, helping in the design and craft of his many iconic, innovative designs.

Unique details such as a small hollowing at the tip of the armrests which perfectly fits the thumb, emphasise how the chair has been crafted with expert precision to provide high levels of comfort and support. With beautiful, angular armrests, the 109 Chair embodies a sophisticated, elegant design.

Rather than thinking in terms of practical construction, Finn Juhl had the mind-set of a sculptor, when he shaped a piece of furniture. In the 1940s and 1950s, this way of working had never been seen before. His ambition was to design furniture with movement and life.
