Designed by Richard Sapper. Introduced in 1972, the Tizio lamp is built with two counterweights allowing the user to direct the light at will.
The lamp adjusts with a pull or push of the hand and stays in place as set. Eliminating the need for extraneous wires and enhancing a clean aesthetic, Tizio’s arms conduct electricity to the bulb which was an early introduction to an industry outside of automotive.

Details

The position of the light is fully adjustable by means of the counterbalanced arms and head. Base swivels 360 degrees. Two light levels can be set by switch.

Materials
Fully adjustable, balanced electrical conductor arms in aluminum.
Arm spacer bars in chromed steel with red molded thermoplastic insulators.
Counter weights in die-cast zinc alloy with translucent polycarbonate shield.
Adjustable head in die-cast aluminum with inner high efficiency reflector in anodized aluminum.
