Akari Pendant Light
Vitra
Designed by Isamu Noguchi.
In 1951, Isamu Noguchi started to design the Akari Light Sculptures, a total of over 100 hand-made Shoji-paper models for table lights, standard lamps or ceiling luminaires.
He chose the name 'akari' for these objects, a word that means 'light' in Japanese, connoting both illumination and physical lightness.
