With this comment, Charles Eames initiated the development of the Lounge Chair, a process that took several years. The Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman went on to become one of the great designs of the 20th century.
This iconic armchair designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 set new standards: it is not only lighter, more elegant and more modern than the conventional club chair – it is also more comfortable.
These days the authentic Eames Lounge Chair is available from Vitra in two sizes: with the original Classic Dimensions and with New Dimensions for taller users. Furthermore, both options can now be upholstered in Nubia bouclé fabric exclusive to Vitra.
