PK1 Chair Papercord Weave by Carl Hansen & Søn

PK1 Chair Papercord Weave

Carl Hansen & Søn

Designed by Poul Kjaerholm. The light, elegant and comfortable PK1 was designed in 1955 and was manufactured by Carl Hansen & Søn since 2017. Now it is relaunched for 2023 with new and durable FSC-certified woven paper cord; a natural material that achieves a beautiful patina over time.
Designer Poul Kjærholm had a penchant for working with steel, preferably in combination with organic materials, to add softness and comfort to a minimal design. This new variant combines Kjærholm’s great knowledge of steel and Carl Hansen & Søn’s more than a 70-year’s expertise with woven paper cord.

It takes a skilled craftsmen 15 hours and 180 meters of paper cord to weave the seat on the PK1. The chair stacks up to 4 pieces, suitable for both private and public use.
