Versatile, crafted and iconic, the original J39 is recognised for its timeless appeal and lasting durability. Designed by Børge Mogensen and launched in 1947, it has been in continuous production for more than 75 years, and has managed to stay current across times, generations and cultures ever since.
With an upholstered seat – originally developed by Mogensen in 1969 – classic functionality is paired with enhanced comfort. The removable cover in canvas or leather rests on a lightly padded base, supporting the chair’s timeless quality. An honest design that continues to enrich both private and public spaces with natural materials and lasting sustainability.

Materials
Chair in solid FSC® certified oak or beech mounted with structural webbing and a removable canvas or leather cover with zippers and a thin layer of polyester padding. Back in wood moulded in layers.
*Note that these chairs are shipped without glides as standard. Please contact us about adding plastic or felt glides to your furniture.
